The Magic Staff: An autobiography of Andrew Jackson Davis with US Spiritualist Directory – Compiled by Jeffrey Harrington
Description
Andrew Jackson David (August 11, 1826 -January 13, 1910), also known as Poughkeepsie Seer, was a spiritualist, clairvoyant, healer, and hands-on healer.
Davis was born at Blooming Grove, a small hamlet along the Hudson River in New York State. His mother was a simple, uneducated woman, and his father, between indulgences of drunkenness, earned a meager living as a weaver and a shoemaker.
Contributions made by Davis to the cause of Spiritualism cannot be enumerated. This simple, uneducated man was a noted forerunner of Modern Spiritualism. From 1845 to 1885, Davis wrote over 30 books dealing with subjects from cosmological philosophy and dissertation, to health, to a descriptive analysis of the afterlife.
After finally acquiring his medical degree, Davis retired to Boston, where he opened a small bookshop. There he sold books and prescribed herbal remedies to his patients.
This publication contains a Directory of Spiritualist Churches, frequently asked questions about Spiritualism, and the declaration of principles of Spiritualist.
